Widevine Trumpets 60th Patent

Seattle-based Widevine, a developer of DRM software for the entertainment industry, reports today that it has gained its 60th patent. The firm said U. S. Patent 7,640,435 covers technology for sending high definition (HD) entertainment over the internet. According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark office, the patent was actually issued on December 29th, and names Glenn A. Morten--Widevine's EVP Engineering and CTO--as the inventor on the patent. The patent has been in process since December of 2005. The title of the patent is "System, Method, and Apparatus for Securely Providing Content Viewable on a Secure Device."
