Report: Microsoft-backed Startup Aiming at BitTorrent

A report this week says that a startup funded by Microsoft is aiming at killing BitTorrent, the peer-to-peer network used heavily by hackers to trade pirated software. The report, fromm TorrentFreak, says that Pirate Pay, a Russian startup, has been developing a system which tracks down and shuts down the distribution of copyrighted works on BitTorrent, has been working with major studios such as Walt Disney Studios and Sony Pictures to stop illegal downloads on the ntwork. Microsoft apparently invested $100,00 in Pirate Pay from its Seed Financing Fund.
