RealPlayer Releases Android App

Seattle-based RealNetworks said Tuesday that it has officially rolled out a new, mobile verison of RealPlayer for Android smartphones and tablets. The firm's new app allows users to access music, video, and photos on their mobile platforms, and also share with their friends on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites. The software has been available as a beta for some time; the company said it already has more than 11.2 million customers who have downloaded the app before the commercial release. RealNetworks is offering up the app for free, but also includes a premium, in-app package that costs $4.99, which gives users a sound equalizer, metadata discovery tools, and other personalization tools and features.
