Report: Amazon Extending Delivery In UK With Corner Store Pickup

It looks like Amazon.com is aggressively rolling out a way for consumers to pick up their packages at local shops--similar to its Amazon Lockers effort here--in the United Kingdom. According to a report by UK newspaper the Telegraph, Amazon has been rolling out a program which will deliver parcels to 5,000 corner shops and newsagents around the UK. The move will allow customers to collect their orders from the shops, which the Telegraph says are often open late into the night. The move is very similar to Amazon's efforts in the U.S., where it has begun looking at lockers to allow users to pick up their packages at local stores around the clock, avoiding delivery issues that often plague urban areas. Amazon recently has been experimenting with lockers in the U.S., to avoid the issues with deliveries stolen off doorsteps and repeated delivery attempts by carriers.
