Amazon Web Services Highlights Public Sector Efforts

Amazon Web Services, the cloud-based software and services arm of Amazon.com, said today that it now has more than 300 government agencies and 1500 education institutions using its services. Amazon offers its AWS GovCloud product, a cloud computing service which specifically allows US government agencies and contractors to run their workloads in the cloud. Amazon said its service complies with the strict regulatory and compliance requirements for those agencies and contractors. Amazon said such customers as the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, NASA, and many others are using it services.
