Zillow Gets Patent Victory Over LendingTree

Seattle-based real estate site Zillow has been handed a win in court, after a federal jury found that the company--as well as NexTag and Adchemy--did not infringe on patents held by competitor LendingTree. The ruling--in the case LendingTree, LLC v. Zillow, Inc. et al--involved patents covering the coordination of mortgage loans over the Internet. LendingTree had sued Zillow, NexTag, and Adchemy in the North Carolina Western Court in September of 2010.
