Kymeta, Intelsat Link On New Satellite Antennas

Redmond-based Kymeta, the antenna materials developer backed by Bill Gates, Lux Capital, and others, has linked with satellite operator Intelsat on a technology deal, the two said today. The companies said they are working together on a flat, electronically steerable, Ku-band satellite antenna using Kymeta's materials. The two said the effort will help in providing satellite-based broadband to such areas as maritime and aero mobility, content delivery and wireless backhaul applications. The new antennas will work with Intelsat's new EpicNG satellites, the first of which is expected to launch in late 2015.
