PlayFab Courts Developers With New, Free Service

Seattle-based PlayFab, the developer of backend tools for game developers which is backed by Benchmark, Madrona Ventures, and Startup Capital Ventures, said today that it has launched a new, free tier aimed at developers. The company said its new PlayFab Free Tier gives game developers unlimited, free access to some of its features, including such things as receipt verification and authenticated logins. The company said the new tier offers up a risk-free way for developers to see what kind of tools the company offers. PlayFab had previously required a paid account, even for smaller games under test; the company's new free version allows up to 1,000 users a day without charge.
