Seattle Tech Companies Tie Into National Job Effort

A number of prominent companies in the local technology industry--as well as a number outside the tech industry--have tied into a new, national effort to help provide jobs and internships for young Americans. According to the 100K Opportunities Initiative, such local companies as Alaska Airlines, Microsoft, Porch.com, and Starbucks have all tied into the new effort, which says it is hoping to help 16-24 year olds who face systemic barriers to jobs and education enter the workforce, through apprenticeships, internships, training programs, and both part-time and full-time jobs. 100K Opportunities says that there are 5.6 million youth between the ages of 16 and 24 who are out of school and not working.
