Amazon Web Services Targets Security Assessment, Compliance

Seattle-based Amazon Web Services, the web services arm of Amazon.com, has begun rolling out its automated security assessment service, Amazon Inspector, to all of its EC2 customers, the company said today. Amazon Inspector automatically checks for securities issues, vulnerabilities, or issues with security configuration on applications running on the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). Amazon said it will make the first 250 assessments free for a customer's first 90 days. Amazon said that it will charge $0.30 per agent-assessment per month, with prices declining as the number of inspections increases.
