Paul G. Allen's Stratolaunch Shows Off Runway Testing

Stratolaunch, the aerospace startup funded by Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen, has sent its plane--now the world's largest plane--down a runway in the Southern California desert, in the latest progress for Allen's space launch startup. According to Stratolaunch, its enormous plane reach a top speed of 40 knots (45 mph) in testing this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Allen's Stratolaunch has been developing the giant plane as a platform to launch satellites and other payloads into near earth orbit, at a cost it expects will be a fraction of current satellite launches.
