Redfin Opens Up On Salary Equity Data

Seattle-based online real estate firm Redfin published a compilation of salary data at the company on Tuesday, which compares pay rates for women and men at the company--and finds, perhaps refreshingly, that for the most part women and men appear to be paid on approximately the same in the same positions. In Redfin's report, each position published by the company appeared to be mostly equal, with some titles even seeing women paid a fraction of a percent more than men in similar positions. Redfin said its results were limited, in that it only compared markets where the company had at least two men and two women with the same title; the company also used a "weighted average" which attempted to adjust the results based on the seniority of its employees.
