Impinj Targets Baggage Industry With New Chip

Seattle-based Impinj is taking aim at the baggage industry, saying on Monday that it has launched a brand new chip specifically aimed at use in tracking checked airline baggage tracking. According to Impinj, its brand new Monza R6-B tag chip is aimed at addressing a International Air Transport Association (IATA) Board of Governors initiative for member airlines to use RAIN RFID-enabled bag tags by 2020. The company says its tag chips allow for fast and accurate luggage identification, even in such environments as stacked luggage and metallic infrastructure. Impinj develops both RFID chips as well as readers and other related products.
