TeachStreet Shifts To Paid Model

Seattle-based TeachStreet, the online site for connecting students and teachers run by Dave Schappell, told its users last night that the firm has shifted its offering to a paid model. According to Schappell, the firm has begun charging its teachers for class listings, now charging $3 per class listing for 30 days or 10 student leads. The firm said the changes will help the firm build its products and services, produce increasing revenues, and so that the business can continue to expand. TeachStreet previously offered free class listings. The firm did say it would decrease its payment processing feeds and new student fees associated with its Basic accounts. The firm continues to offer an all-inclusive, premium account option. TeachStreet is venture backed by Madrona Venture Group.
