Unitas Seed Fund Gets $4M From Bill Gates and Other Seattle Angel Investors

Seattle- and Bangalore, India-based seed investment firm Unitas Seed Fund said today that it has raised $4M in funding from 16, Indian investors, plus additional funding in an affiliated offshore venture fund from Bill Gates, Steve Singh, Diego Piacentini, and other Seattle tech executives. The seed stage, investment fund supports startups focused on healthcare, education, mobile commerce & value-added services, marketplaces & e-commerce, retail & distribution, agriculture, water and energy sectors in India. Unitas does all of investing in India, but has one of its major offices in Seattle. The fund said that angels Bill Gates (Microsoft, Gates Foundation), Desh Deshpande (formerly Sycamore Networks), Romesh Wadhwani (Symphony TG), Vinod Khosla (Khosla Ventures), Steve Singh (Cleartrip, Concur) Soma Somasegar (Microsoft), Dilip Wagle (McKinsey), Geeta Aiyer (Boston Common), Kamesh Aiyer, Pradeep Singh (Aditi), Bharat Shah (Microsoft), Anoop Gupta (Microsoft), Nagesh Pabbisetty (Microsoft), Prady Misra, Vikram Chalana (Winshuttle) all have invested in the company.
