Urban Airship Gets Series B Funding

Portland-based Urban Airship, a developer of software used for real-time push notification to mobile application users, is announcing tonight that it has raised $5.4M in a Series B round of funding, bringing the company's total raised to $6.5M. According to the firm, the round was led by Foundry Ventures, and also included True Ventures and Founder Co-Op. Urban Airship's software is used by application developers--particularly Apple iPhone applications developers--send out push notifications within their applications, and optimizing those messages to increase signup and response rates. The firm, which launched in June of 2009, is headed by Scott Kveton. Kveton said in an interview that the new funds will go towards adding more people to the firm, as it moves into a new, 25,000 square foot building in the Pearl District in Portland.
