Wacom Acquires TouchKO

Wacom Company Ltd., a manufacturer of digital pen input devices, revealed Wednesday that it has acquired Touchscreen Konnection Oasis Inc., which specializes in touch-based input. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Wacom said the acquisition of TouchKO will enable Wacom to integrate its patented Penabled electro-magnetic resonance technology with TouchKO's touch sensor capabilities, resulting in the development of dual-input devices such as tablet PCs, mobile phones and PDAs. According to Wacom, the transaction will have little impact on its consolidated business forecast for the current fiscal year, which ends March 2008. TouchKO will become part of Wacom's Components Division and will continue operating from its headquarters in Austin, Texas. Established in 1983, Wacom is based in Vancouver, Washington.
