Washington, Oregon Firms Rake In $153.9M Venture Capital In Quarter

Firms in Washington and Oregon raised $153.9M in venture capital investments, according to the latest numbers 60.8M in venture capital investments in Q2, according to the latest numbers from PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), based on data from Thomson Reuters. The latest MoneyTree Venture Capital report tallied $122.25M across 27 investments in Washington State, and $31.65M across 6 deals in Oregon for the quarter. Despite a national rise in investments, those numbers were actually down in terms of dollars for both states compared to Q1, when Washington saw $127.36M in investments, and Oregon saw $43.24M invested.

Nationally, venture capitalists invested $7.5 billion in 955 deals in Q2 of 2011, which was up 19 percent in terms of both dollars and deals versus Q1. The report noted that Internet specific investments hit a 10-year high during the quarter, with overall investments representing the highest level of investment in a single quarter since the second quarter of 2008.
