    Washington State Sees Increase in VC Deals


    Dow Jones VentureOne and Ernst & Young said today in their quarterly venture capital report that Washington state had $397.1M in venture deals in the first quarter, an increase of 21% over year to year investments. Overall, U.S. Venture Capital investments increased to $6.96 billion in the first quarter, an increase of 8 percent from the same quarter last year. Venture Capitalists invested in 584 deals nationwide for the quarter, with particular interest in the healthcare and alternative energy and environmental technology areas, according to the report.
