Whrrl Launches Rewards Program For Check-Ins

Seattle-based Pelago, the maker of the Whrrl mobile social networking service, said Thursday that it has launched a loyalty program where it will reward real-world prizes to people for checking into retail locations. The firm said that it has launched with its first sponsor in the program, Murphy USA, a gasoline and convenience store, where it will give people checking into Murphy a chance to win $50 in gas. Whrrl is marketing the Society Rewards program to brands, saying that the loyalty program will reward users for motivating others to visit a business, and help those businesses close the gap between a brand's online social media presence and their real-world physical presence.
