Seattle-based Widevine, a developer of digital rights management technology, announced today that it has inked a deal with Samsung to be the preferred provider of adaptive streaming and DRM technology for the electronics manufacturer. Widevine said that Sansung Electronic Co., ltd. will distribute its live and on-demand adaptive streaming, virtual DVD-like "trick play" and digital rights management (DRM) on Samsung connected devices. Financial details of the win were not disclosed.
