Widevine Wins Best Buy

Seattle-based Widevine, a developer of digital rights management (DRM) software, reported Tuesday that it has signed Best Buy as a customer. According to Widevine, Best Buy is using its DRM software on its Insignia connected devices brand. Those devices include televisions, Blu-ray players and media players. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. Widevine said that Insignia devices including its software are expected to ship in Q3 of the year, and that its technology is already being used in Best Buy's digital video service, CinemaNow.
