Zipwhip Gets $5M To Text Enable Your Landline

Do you wish you could get text message on that old landline? Seattle's latest funded company, Zipwhip, does just that, using the cloud to make it so your landline phone can be used to send and receive text messages. Zipwhip said Tuesday that it had raised a $5M, Series B funding round to help grow out its business development efforts, including providing the service to businesses. Source of the new funding round was not announced by the company, which is led by John Lauer. Zipwhip's service lets consumers and businesses receive and send texts through the cloud using their existing phone numbers, with those texts showing up on either a PC or mobile app.
