UW Names Computer Science, Engineering Building After Bill and Melinda Gates

The University of Washington said today that it will name its second Computer Science & Engineering building after Bill & Melinda Gates, after a group donated more than $30M to name the second building in honor of the couple. According to the school, a group called the "Friends of Bill & Melinda", led by Microsoft President Brad Smith, his wife, Kathy Surace-Smith, and Charles and Lisa Simonyi, helped lead the effort, which also included donations from Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos, Satya and Anu Nadella, and many others. The new building will be named the Bill & Melinda Gates Center for Computer Science & Engineering.
