Amazon Adds In-App Purchases

Seattle-based Amazon.com said today that it has enabled new, in-app purchases for applications for its Kindle Fire, as well as other Android devices, tying the platform into Amazon's own e-commerce systems. Amazon said that in-app digital content and subscriptions will now be available for purchase within apps and games, connecting users via its Amazon 1-Click system. Amazon said that it has lined up a number of launch partners--including Disney, Glue Mobile, Gameloft, Dow Jones, and the New York Post--all of whom have already implemented in-app purchases within their apps. The new in-app purchase support now puts Android apps on Amazon on par with similar in-app purchase features on the Apple iOS platform.
