Amazon.com Acquires Brilliance Audio

Online retailer Amazon.com Inc. has acquired independent audio book publisher Brilliance Audio, Amazon announced Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Amazon said its purchase of Brilliance Audio will enable the popular Internet vendor to expand its selection of audio format titles. In conjunction with the deal, Amazon reported that its subsidiary, CustomFlix, will support standard CD and MP3-CD audiobook formats via its Disc on Demand service. According to Amazon, Brilliance Audio is the largest independent publisher of audio books in the U.S. Brilliance Audio is located in Grand Haven, Michigan, and was founded in 1984. Established in 1995, Amazon.com is a Fortune 500 company headquartered in Seattle.
