Amazon Expands In Sumner

Seattle-based Amazon.com announced this morning that it is planning to open a new 500,000 square foot fulfillment center in Sumner, Washington, sometime this year, and expects to create "several hundred" full time jobs at the new facility. The firm said it expects to complete its facility this summer, which will be used to pick, pack, and ship products from the company. In addition to the permanent positions, Amazon said the new fulfillment center will also create "hundreds" of seasonal jobs during the holiday season. Amazon has been in a massive hiring push at its fulfillment centers, saying late in April that it had numerous positions open in centers in Arizona, Delaware, Kansas, Kentucky, and Nevada.
