Amazon Expands Virtual Private Clouds

Seattle-based Amazon Web Services, the web services arm of Amazon.com, said very late Monday night that it has expanded its Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) services. Amazon said it will now allow customers to assign which resources they want to be exposed to the Internet, and which ones they don't. Previously, Amazon kept virtual private cloud resources separate from the Internet via a virtual private network (VPN) connection. Amazon said customers now have complete control over virtual networking, including IP addresses, subnets, routing tables, and network gateways.
