Amazon Launches Cloud Music, Storage Service

Seattle-based Amazon.com has launched a new, cloud-based music and storage service, the firm said Monday evening. Amazon said its new Amazon Cloud Drive, Amazon Cloud Player for Web, and Amazon Cloud Player for Android will allow users to buy and store MP3 music tracks, and play them anywhere from the cloud. Amazon said the new service will offer up 5 GB of cloud storage for free, with an automatic upgrade to 20GB for users who purchase an MP3 album from Amazon. Amazon said the service will support both MP3 and AAC format music. In addition to music, Amazon said customers can also upload and store other digital files, such as music, photos, videos, and documents, with storage plans starting at $20 a year for 20GB of storage.
