BigDoor Launches New Way To Make A Game Out Of Websites

Seattle-based BigDoor, a startup developing a system to help web sites add game mechanics to their websites, said today that it has launched a new set of features it says can be added to websites in as little as five minutes. The firm, which is headed by Keith Smith, said its new features allows web site owners to add such things as badges, points, and leaderboards to their site through easy software widgets. Badges have been made popular by such sites as Foursquare, which allows web services to award special prizes to users who accomplish specific tasks. BigDoor also said it has adjusted its pricing structure; the firm offers up its services based on the number of application programming interface (API) calls made by developers to the site during a month. BigDoor said it now has over 500 website owners and developers registered to use its services.
