Bill Gates Backs Company Making Sustainable Burgers

Bill Gates is one of the backers of Impossible Foods, the developer of a burger which looks and tastes like a beef burger--but is actually vegetarian. Impossible Foods said today that it has raised $75M in a funding round, which was led by Temasek, and also included Open Philanthropy, Bill Gates, Khosla Ventures and Horizon Ventures. Impossible Foods says its key ingredient is "leghemoglobin", a soy-based protein which contains an iron-containing molecule similar to that found in meat. More information »
