Costco Photo Center Finally Back Online

Kirkland-based Costco told its members this morning that it has finally re-opened online access to its Costco Photo Center online photo service, after abruptly pulling the service in July. In an email and message to members, Costco said that a preliminary finding found that a security compromise occurred at the company that hosts the Costco Photo Center. That security compromise also affected CVS, Walmart, Rite Aid, Sam's Club, and Tesco. On the site, Costco apologized for the "inconvenience, frustration, and concern" suffered by members by the earlier move to pull the site. Costco said it has re-built the site with additional, unspecified security measures. The site has now been down for more than a month. Costco said that it's unclear how much information was exposed, although the company believed some credit card data, as well as usernames and passwords, were compromised in the hack.
