Cray Wins $174M Contract

Seattle-based Cray said Thursday that it has scored a $174M deal, with the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Cray said the contract is one of the largest in its history. The new Cray supercomputer is being used as part of an effort to ensure the safety, security and effectiveness of the United States' nuclear stockpile. Cray said the agency will be using a Cray XC supercomputer and a Cray Sonexion storage system in the effort, which is a joint effort between the New Mexico Alliance for Computing at Extreme Scale (ACES) at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories.
