Donuts Adds 18 More Domains: .PIZZA, .TAX, .CASH, Others

Bellevue-based top level domain registrar Donuts Inc. is in another big expansion of the gTLDs the company is now offering up to companies, saying it will be adding eighteen new domains this month--.CREDIT, .TAX, .HEALTHCARE, .PIZZA, .CASH and may others--as it continues to roll out its gTLDs. Donuts said it will have 140 new gTLDs under management with the new launches. The new gTLDs are the result of a big effort by ICANN to make global top level domains (similar to .com) available to companies, via private companies. Donuts reports that it has seen more than 800,000 end user registrations. The big challenge that Donuts--and other domain name registrars--face, is the huge proliferation of gTLDs and how to direct users to those near infinite number of choices for a domain extension.
