Elemental Debuts New Cloud Service

Portland-based Elemental Technologies, which developers video transcoding technology, has launched its own, cloud-based media processing service, the firm announced today. Elemental said its new Elemental Cloud offering provides a platform-as-a-service which lets its customers scale out their media processing via a cloud service. Elemental said the cloud-based offering will seamlessly integrate with on-premise video operations. Pricing on the new cloud transcoding service was not announced. Elemental develops video transcoding products--accelerated by GPUs--which are used to translate online video into the multitude of formats required for different devices.
