Elemental Powers Japanese 4K Video Demo

Portland-based Elemental Technologies reported this morning that its products were used in a demonstration of 4K broadcast television in Japan last week, with Kansai TV. Elemental said its technology was used to encode 4K content in high-efficiency video coding (HEVC) for terrestrial broadcast delivery over ISDB-T to an Ultra HD TV--part of an educational event in Japan. 4K television is a new, very high resolution format being explored by broadcasters, particularly for sports events. Kansai TV serves Osaka, Japan. Financial details of the win were not announced.
