Expedia Acquires SilverRail

Bellevue-based Expedia said this morning that it has acquired SilverRail, a developer of software used for scheduling, pricing, booking, payment, and ticketing of rail tickets. Financial terms of the majority stake acquisition were not announced. Expedia said that it has been in a partnership with SilverRail since 2010, when Egencia, its corporate travel brand, started offering up rail inventory in the US using SilverRail's technology platform. SilverRail has offices in London, Boston, Stockholm and Brisbane, and was founded in 2009.
