Expedia Plans TripAdvisor Split

Bellevue-based Expedia said Thursday afternoon that it has preliminarily approved a plant o spinout TripAdvisor into a separate, publicly traded company. Expedia said TripAdvisor will include the the domestic and international operations associated with the TripAdvisor Media Group, along with 18 other travel media and advertising brands. Expedia said it anticipates the deal will be structured as a distribution of stock of TripAdvisor to Expedia stockholders or a reclassification of Expedia stock, and should occur in Q3 of the year.
