Fluke Debuts Pocket-sized Ethernet Tester

Everett, Washington-based Fluke Networks, the manufacturer of a wide range of test and measurement products, has rolled out a handy new, pocket-sized tool for IT administrators and others--a new, Ethernet tester. According to Fluke, its new LinkSprinter network tester connects to your smartphone to allow PC technicians, system integrators, home networking enthusiasts, and others to tap into Ethernet networks for diagnosing problems. The new product--which is only $199--apparently scans Ethernet networks and reports on the status of such Ethernet features as DNS lookups, DHCP, gateway settings, Power-over-Ethernet status, and more. Typical Ethernet test devices usually are heavy, traditional testing equipment form factors, compared with the new Fluke tool, and will most likely appeal to gadget geeks who need to get a quick read on monitoring Ethernet status.
