Xiant Launches Email Software
Vulcan Technologies, the technology firm run by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, said today that it has launched a new startup, Xiant, which is looking to help users organize their inboxes. According to Xiant, it has launched a public beta of its first product, Xiant Filer, which works with Microsoft Office Outlook by helping users organize their e-mail inboxes. The software learns from users and helps them to automatically filter their email, depending on their behavior and preferences. The startup is offering a 60-day free trial of Filer, which is available for download from the company's web site; the firm has not yet released pricing on the full version of the software. The startup is the second email startup backed by Allen; Vulcan also helped to incubate and fund Gist, which also works with Microsoft Outlook to pull web relevant information from the web related to emails.
