Amazon Suspends Macmillan Books, But Will "Capitulate" To Terms
Amazon.com said Sunday that it has suspended sales of Macmillan electronic books in protest over a pricing tiff with the publisher, even though it acknowledged that it will ultimately have to "capitulate" to the publisher's pricing demands. Amazon, which has been battling Macmillan over its demands that the firm price new titles at $15.00, said that while it wants to offer its e-books at its $9.99 price, Macmillan has told the firm that it is committed to charging $12.99 to $14.99 for e-book versions of bestsellers and most hardcover releases. Amazon said it would temporarily case sale of all Macmillan titles, and did not give a date for when it would resume sales.
