Ignition's Reboot Emblematic Of Venture Industry's Woes

The big reboot over at Seattle's Ignition Partners turned some heads here in the Pacific Northwest, as yet another regional fund fell victim to headwinds in the venture capital industry. However, as the WSJ reports, what Ignition has been going through is emblematic of the issues facing the venture capital industry as a whole, as many funds retrench, only the top tier firms are getting funding, and venture investors everywhere are having to reinvent themselves. The WSJ reports that in 2011, only 842 venture capital firms had raised money in the previous eight years, down 16 percent from 2007.
