Glowforge Gets Investments From Craft Retailer JOANN

Seattle-based 3D laser printer maker Glowforge, which makes a device that allows users to laser cut and encrave a wide range of materials, has received an investment from craft retailing giant JOANN, the companies said on Thursday. The investment--part of a retail partnership between the two companies--also includes the placement of Glowforge at a number of the company's stories. Financial details of the investment were not announced by the companies. Glowforge's existing investors include True Ventures and Foundry Group. The company raised a $10M round of funding in April. The companies said they've already launched the first site where it will offer up 3D laser cutting and engraving to JOANN customres, in the Natick Mall outside Boston; JOANN says it plans to roll out Glowforge machines to ther stores across its 865-store chain in 2019, and also take online, custom orders.
