GraphLab Finds $6.75M For Open Source Software

Seattle-based open source, machine learning software developer GraphLab said this morning that it has raised $6.75M in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Madrona Venture Group and New Enterprise Associates. According to GraphLab, it is building a commercial product for applying advanced machine learning to massive graph datasets. The company was founded by data scientist Carlos Guestrin. Matt McIlwain of Madrona and Greg Papadopoulos of NEA join the company's board as part of the funding, with NEA's Forest Baskett serving as an observer. GraphLab's products are being used to provide personalized recommendations to consumers. Guestrin is the Amazon Professor of Machine Learning at the University of Washington.
