Intellicheck Mobilisa Debuts Fake ID Checking App For Bars, Restaurants

Think that fake ID will get you into your favorite bar, even if you're underage? Think again. Port Townend, Washington-based Intellicheck Mobilisa is looking to help restaurants, bars, retail stores, and others detect fake IDs with a new, smartphone app. Those locations face fines and license issues if they unknowingly sell alcohol and other products to minors--but have had to rely on the ability of their employees to detect fake identification. With the new software--which costs $1.99 plus annual and monthly licenses fees of $19.99 a month--lets iPhone users scan an ID card and check to be sure they are valid. The move takes software developed by Intellicheck Mobilisa for government and other customers and makes it far more accessible via smartphone. An Android version is expected shortly.
