Marchex Sells Off Domain Portfolio

Seattle-based Marchex said this morning that it has agreed to sell off the bulk of its domain name portfolio, in a deal worth $34.8M. According to Marchex, it is selling the portfolio to GoDaddy, which will pay $28.1M in cash, the proceeds of $6.7M in direct domain sales made by Marchex since January, plus earn out. Marchex said the sale comes as the company has refocused on becoming a mobile advertising analytics company. Over 200,000 domain names are being included in the sale.
