Maveron Funds Virtual Reality Hardware Developer Virtuix

Seattle-based Maveron has backed a developer of virtual reality hardware--which allows users to walk, run, and jump in their virtual worlds and games. Virtuix said today that it has raised $3M in a seed funding, which came from Tekton Ventures and Maveron, along with Scentan Ventures, Radical Investments, Scout Ventures, StartCaps Ventures and others. Virtuix--which is based in Houston, Texas--makes treadmills which match a user's virtual reality experience. Maveron's investment in Virtuix came from David Wu, who described the company's system in a statement as being "so real" that after using it, "my heart was pounding, my legs were tired, and I was completely transported into another world."
