Microsoft, American Family Insurance Launch Home Automation Accelerator

Microsoft and American Family Insurance said yesterday that the two are launching a new, business accelerator in Seattle, focused on home automation. According to the two, the new Microsoft Ventures Accelerator will focus on startups looking to create technology for "safer and smarter homes." American Family Insurance will invest a minimum of $25,000 in equity in each startup accepted into the program. American Family Insurance offers up auto insurance, homeowners insurance, life insurance, business insurance and farm/ranch insurance; the insurance company also has an arm, American Family Ventures, which makes early stage investments in emerging technology.
