Mozy: Small Businesses Lack On Data Protection
Seattle-based Mozy, the online backup service which is part of EMC, said today that it has run a survey of small and midsize businesses, and found--not unsurprisingly--that one third of them are passing the buck on their data protection efforts, and letting employees figure it out themselves. Mozy said it surveyed more than 640 SMBs, via independent research firm Compass Partners, and found that a "significant" number of those companies do not implement safe backup strategies. Mozy--which provides its own services to that market--is looking to push more of those customers to its own service. Mozy and other backup providers are pushing awareness of their backup services as part of "World Backup Day" on March 31st.
