Oberon Media to Acquire PixelPlay

Seattle-based casual computer games developer Oberon Media announced today that it will acquire PixelPlay, a developer and distributor of games for the interactive television market. Terms of the deal, which is expected to close later this month, were not disclosed. Oberon said the purchase follows its recent acquisition of I-play, a developer of casual games for mobile devices. Founded in 2002, PixelPlay is best known for its proprietary JIVE platform, which enables the creation, integration and management of multi-user, cross-platform games on digital networks. Oberon said PixelPlay has licensed hundreds of games for its iTV portfolio. PixelPlay is based in New York City. Oberon Media is headquartered in Seattle.
